How to Compare Health Check Packages in China
By MyChinaCheckup coordination team · Updated
Compare health check packages in China by the exact examinations and the visit you need, rather than the number of listed items. Ask a clinician about suitability, then compare the hospital campus, language support, reports, total price and arrangements for unfinished tests. A package becomes a usable plan only when these details are confirmed together.
Start with the decision your visit needs to support
Before opening several package lists, write a short brief: why you want a check-up, what you have already had checked, whether you have symptoms, and when you will be in China. A routine preventive visit and an appointment to investigate a particular concern may require different routes. Tell the hospital about the concern rather than assuming a premium package will address it.
Keep three priorities separate: examinations you want to discuss with a clinician, practical requirements such as English communication, and optional conveniences. This makes it easier to see whether a higher price buys something you need or simply a different service setting.
Your selected, confirmed package
Four services included in your package
All listed check-up tests
The examinations and consumables expressly listed for your selected package, with its eligibility conditions.
Personalized VIP coordination
Individual appointment planning, visit coordination and support through report delivery.
Dedicated English-speaking accompaniment throughout your check-up
A dedicated English-speaking companion supports you throughout your hospital check-up visit.
Hospital-issued Chinese report + full English translation
Your hospital’s original Chinese report and complete English translation, delivered within 3–5 working days after the listed package examinations are completed.
These four services are included in the price of your selected, confirmed package. Extra tests, treatment, medicines, transport and accommodation are not included unless expressly listed in your written plan; separately priced additions require your approval.
VIP personal service means MyChinaCheckup’s individual coordination and accompaniment. It does not promise a hospital VIP ward, priority medical access or a medical outcome.
A worked comparison of two current lists
The following is a catalogue-reading exercise using two MyChinaCheckup PDFs dated 10 October 2026, checked on 13 October. It is not a recommendation to choose either package. Both are listed for men; eligibility still needs confirmation.
| Detail to compare | Renji East: Men’s check-up 01 | Ren’ai Xuhui: Men’s Select 03 |
|---|---|---|
| Listed whole-package price | US$480 per person | US$778 per person |
| Chest imaging | Chest X-ray; physical film excluded | Low-dose chest CT |
| MRI | Not listed | One region: head OR cervical spine OR lumbar spine |
| Blood count | Panel named; individual components need confirmation | Components individually listed |
| Glucose-related detail | Fasting glucose and HbA1c expressly listed | Blood glucose listed; its preparation requires confirmation |
| Ultrasound wording | Named abdominal organs, kidneys and prostate | Named abdominal organs, kidneys, prostate, thyroid, neck vessels and heart |
Read the Renji East PDF and Ren’ai PDF for the complete lists. These are the coordinator’s published package documents, not an independent survey of hospital tariffs or live availability.
Three comparison traps become visible here. Chest X-ray and chest CT are different listed examinations. One selectable MRI region does not mean three scans. A short panel label may conceal unanswered component questions, while a long list can count those components separately. None establishes which examination you should have.
“Not listed” also has a precise meaning: the document does not establish inclusion. It does not prove the hospital cannot provide the examination separately. Ask whether it is appropriate and available, and request an additional quote if needed.
Catalogue documents were checked on 13 October 2026; confirm the current list, eligibility and quote for your appointment.
Use a comparison worksheet with an evidence status
Take two shortlisted proposals from the comparison tool and give each its own column. Replace marketing labels with matching rows: named laboratory tests, imaging body regions, consultation, report language, accompaniment and appointment campus.
| Status for each proposal | What you record | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| Included, confirmed | Exact scope and written confirmation reference | Compare with the matching row in the other proposal. |
| Excluded | The stated omission | Decide whether it matters for your plan. |
| Optional, separately quoted | Scope, price and any clinical approval needed | Add it only if approved and wanted. |
| Awaiting confirmation | The unanswered question and who will resolve it | Keep the comparison incomplete. |
Split bundled panels into named components before comparing item counts. Mark a vague ultrasound label unresolved until its body regions are specified. Record the proposal date, and update affected rows whenever the plan changes. This prevents a cheaper headline from winning by leaving necessary services unpriced.
Use clinical suitability to narrow the list
The US National Cancer Institute explains that screening can have benefits and harms, including false results and overdiagnosis. Its screening overview supports discussing appropriate tests with a clinician; a longer commercial list does not establish a better screening plan.
Bring earlier results to the consultation and highlight what you most want clarified. Ask whether a proposed addition addresses that concern, whether it duplicates existing information, and how its result would be used. The coordinator can obtain the package specification and organise appointments; the clinical recommendation belongs to the hospital team.
Compare the complete agreed price
Place the medical examinations, coordination and language support alongside one another. Ask what is included, what remains optional, who receives payment, and whether any part is still awaiting a hospital quotation. Keep currencies as quoted rather than blending them into an estimated total.
For new confirmed MyChinaCheckup visits through 31 December 2026, the agreed total includes the hospital check-up, coordination and English accompaniment specified in your plan. Additional examinations, medicines or treatment require a separately disclosed price and your approval. Ordinary check-ups can be paid in full after arrival in China, before the first examination begins. Any hospital-required advance payment is disclosed separately in writing and agreed before you accept the plan and proceed with booking. An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. We send written appointment confirmation after the hospital confirms the booking.
The payment and cancellation policy also matters when comparing options. Check it against your flight and meeting commitments before paying.
Learn from a real quotation without treating it as a price list
In our documented Shenzhen visit, a UK visitor's historical arrangement totalled US$480: US$280 for the check-up, US$20 for a TCM consultation and US$180 for English support. Optional medicines and acupuncture were paid for separately.
The useful comparison lesson is the separation of the agreed arrangement from later optional purchases. It is not a current quotation or evidence that the same appointments, timing or clinical result will be available for another person. Today's inclusive service policy should be read alongside a new written proposal.
Check what happens after the examination morning
A package comparison should reach beyond the reception desk. Ask which results will be available first, whether reports are released together, how an English version is prepared, and how you can ask about a missing document after leaving China.
- Record the expected delivery method and contact person.
- Ask how hospital advice about an abnormal finding will be communicated.
- Clarify whether a further consultation is included or separately arranged.
- Identify any examination that might require another visit.
- Leave enough flexibility to decide on next steps before departure.
Choose only after the unresolved rows are answered. A shorter, clearly specified arrangement can be easier to plan around than an impressive list with uncertain delivery.
Common questions
Is the package with the most items the best choice?
Not necessarily. Item counts may split laboratory panels differently and say little about your needs. Compare exact examinations and ask the hospital clinician which are appropriate for you.
Can I remove or add an examination?
Ask before payment. The hospital must confirm whether a change is clinically appropriate and operationally available, and whether it changes the price, preparation or appointment schedule.
Does a package listing confirm hospital availability?
No. Directory information is a planning reference. The campus, examinations, appointment and current total must be confirmed for your visit.
Plan the details before you book
Send the two or three packages you are considering, your travel window and your main concern. We can clarify the differences and request a written appointment plan.
An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. Confirm the hospital, date, scope and total in writing before payment.
