Fasting Glucose and HbA1c in China Check-up Packages
By MyChinaCheckup coordination team · Published
Fasting glucose and HbA1c are different tests. A package listing fasting glucose does not establish that HbA1c is included. All six current Sanya check-up lists include fasting blood glucose; none lists HbA1c. Confirm the actual requested measurement and its preparation before booking.
Understand the different time windows
A fasting glucose test measures glucose at a particular point in time. HbA1c reflects average blood glucose over roughly the preceding three months, although clinical factors can affect how it is interpreted. These are different measurements, not two names for the same row. See NIDDK’s explanation of diabetes tests.
This distinction does not mean everyone should book both. A clinician decides which testing is suitable and interprets the results in context. This guide does not set diagnostic thresholds or provide a diagnosis from a package description.
Check the six Sanya lists accurately
| Published package group | Fasting blood glucose | HbA1c |
|---|---|---|
| Men’s Basic 01 / Women’s Basic 01 | Listed | Not listed |
| Men’s Advanced 02 / Women’s Advanced 02 | Listed | Not listed |
| Men’s Selected 03 / Women’s Selected 03 | Listed | Not listed |
The source names fasting blood glucose (FBG). It does not name HbA1c in any of the six lists. “Not listed” is a scope statement, not a claim that the hospital cannot perform it. If a clinician has requested HbA1c, ask whether it can be accepted separately, with a confirmed price and timing.
Obtain one preparation plan for the whole appointment
Ask the hospital for written instructions covering all examinations booked that day. The preparation required for one blood test does not automatically cover the rest of a package. Tell the team about medicines or clinical circumstances they need to consider when giving those instructions.
Do not stop medicines, extend fasting or decide how to manage a medical condition from this article. If preparation is difficult or conflicts with travel, contact the receiving clinical team before the appointment. Ask how a rescheduled test would affect the rest of the plan.
Keep the requested test and the returned report aligned
- Record the exact accepted test name and any separately priced addition.
- Check that the delivered report identifies the measurement performed.
- Keep the laboratory units and reference ranges with the result and translation.
- Ask the clinician who requested testing how results should be reviewed.
- Clarify follow-up availability and charges if another appointment is advised.
A translated report does not make different measurements directly interchangeable. If the result or test name differs from an overseas request, ask the relevant clinician or laboratory to clarify rather than making a comparison from numbers alone.
Confirmed package services and timing
Your selected, confirmed check-up package price includes all listed examinations and consumables, personalised VIP coordination, dedicated English-speaking accompaniment throughout the check-up, and the hospital-issued Chinese report with a full English translation. Extras need a separately disclosed price and your acceptance.
Routine packages usually take 2–3.5 hours on site; additions or separate appointments can take longer. Both reports are delivered within 3–5 working days after all examinations listed in the confirmed package are completed. This is not a deadline for a separate specialist diagnostic or treatment pathway.
For ordinary check-ups, payment can be made after arriving in China, but must be complete before the first examination. Any hospital-required advance payment is explained before you confirm the booking. Booking steps · Cancellation and refund terms.

Discuss your own plan
Explain the appointment or examination scope you want checked. An enquiry is free and does not reserve an appointment. The receiving provider confirms suitability, availability and the written plan.
