Can Foreigners Book a Health Check in China Directly?

Updated 26 September 2026 · MyChinaCheckup coordination team

In many cases, yes. A coordinator is optional. Ask the hospital whether its check-up centre can register your passport, accept your payment method and arrange the package you want. Direct booking may be suitable if you can manage the hospital's booking system and communication.

What does direct booking involve?

Use the hospital's official website, official account, published telephone service or registration desk. Check the exact campus and department. Shanghai's official guide describes direct hospital appointments and passport registration, while noting that some online processes require basic Chinese and phone verification.

BookingYou confirm passport registration, campus and available dates with the hospital. We help check those details and organise the agreed appointments.
CommunicationYou use the hospital's available language services or arrange your own help.English support is specified in your written plan.

ReportsYou confirm collection, language and overseas delivery yourself. We help arrange report delivery and the translation scope agreed before payment.
Follow-upYou organise any clinician review or further appointment. We can help arrange follow-up; the clinician makes medical decisions.

When might help be useful?

Coordination may help when you have only a few days, want appointments in more than one department, need English accompaniment or will leave before reports are ready. It does not guarantee earlier appointments or replace medical care.

A checklist before you book either way

  1. Confirm the hospital name in Chinese, campus address and check-in point.
  2. Ask whether your passport and contact details work in the booking system.
  3. Confirm the complete test list and which tests require a consultation first.
  4. Get the total, currency, payment recipient and cancellation conditions in writing.
  5. Confirm preparation instructions, report language and follow-up arrangements.

Reserve now. Pay in full before your check-up. Ordinary check-ups can be paid in full after arrival in China, before the first examination begins. Any hospital-required advance payment is disclosed separately in writing and agreed before you accept the plan and proceed with booking. An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. We send written appointment confirmation after the hospital confirms the booking. Read our payment and cancellation policy.
