Does a Full Body Checkup in China Include MRI or CT?

A full body checkup does not automatically include MRI, CT or every available cancer test. The exact examination list determines what is included. Ask for the imaging method, body region and any separately priced additions in writing; a clinician should decide whether a proposed scan is appropriate for your circumstances.
Treat the package name as a starting point
Words such as comprehensive, premium and full body do not give you a complete specification. Two packages with similar names may contain different examinations. A higher item count also does not explain whether the particular question you want answered is covered.
Start with your purpose: routine preventive care, an existing doctor's request or a current symptom. Then compare the itemized list with that purpose. If your main concern is a specific knee or part of your back, write it separately in the enquiry instead of assuming the package title covers it.
Use a scope worksheet before comparing prices
Ask the hospital or coordinator to complete the same fields for every option. Leave an unclear item marked awaiting confirmation until there is an answer.
| Package wording | Question to resolve |
|---|---|
| MRI included | Which body region, which side and what approved examination? |
| CT included | Which region and what clinical purpose? |
| Ultrasound included | Which named organs or anatomical regions? |
| Cancer screening | Which individual tests, and what are their limitations? |
| English report | Which reports, images and explanation services are included? |
Do not count a requested examination as included simply because a package contains a related test. Send any previous written recommendation for hospital review and ask whether an appointment with a clinician is required first.
More imaging is not automatically more reassurance
The US Food and Drug Administration's whole-body CT guidance says that benefit over harm has not been demonstrated for whole-body CT screening in people without symptoms. It also explains that an apparently normal scan can miss conditions, while uncertain findings can lead to further tests. Discuss the purpose and trade-offs of a proposed scan with a clinician.
A useful booking question is therefore not simply whether every scan can be added. Ask what question each proposed examination is intended to answer. A package cannot provide a guarantee that every cancer or other illness has been excluded.
A visitor’s perspective and your confirmed plan
Yana’s Shanghai health check-up video story offers a visitor’s first-person view of her hospital experience. For your visit, confirm the exact examination list, language support and report arrangements in your written plan with the hospital and coordination team.
Carry one clear examination list from the enquiry through the quotation to the hospital order. The coordinator can help communicate that list, while clinical decisions remain with the hospital. MRI is included only when it is specified in the confirmed plan.
Confirm the full visit, not only the scan price
- Request the hospital name and campus, package list and separately requested examinations.
- Ask which items still need clinical review, a referral or a separate appointment.
- Confirm the agreed total, English support and any excluded charges before full payment.
- Check the expected order of appointments and the report collection arrangements.
- Keep the written plan available on the visit day and query any mismatch before proceeding.
Use our package comparison to organize options, then request confirmation for the items that matter to you. A directory listing or an enquiry alone does not reserve an imaging slot.
Common questions
Does a full body checkup include a full-body MRI?
Only if the confirmed examination list expressly includes it. Do not infer an imaging method or its coverage from the package name. Ask the hospital to explain the proposed scope and clinical suitability.
Can I add MRI after choosing a package?
You can request an assessment of the addition. The hospital must confirm suitability, availability and price. Send the exact region and any existing doctor's request before the appointment rather than relying on an unplanned same-day addition.
Can the coordinator decide which cancer tests I need?
No. MyChinaCheckup helps organize information and appointments. A qualified clinician should discuss appropriate screening or investigation; a longer package list is not a personal medical assessment.
Plan the details before you book
Send the package you are considering and the exact examinations you want clarified. We can request a written scope and identify which questions need the hospital's clinical team.
An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. Confirm the hospital, date, scope and total in writing before payment.
