Your questions, explained

Can I Skip or Replace Tests in a China Health Check Package?

Updated 3 October 2026 · MyChinaCheckup editorial review

You can raise concerns about any proposed test and discuss declining it with the clinical team. Replacing a test, reducing the package price, or receiving a partial refund is a separate question. Ask the hospital to confirm clinical suitability and the provider to confirm any revised package, price and preparation before you pay.

Separate three decisions before changing a package

Start with the exact item name, rather than asking to remove a broad category such as cancer screening or imaging. There are three different decisions: whether you agree to the examination, whether a different examination is clinically suitable, and whether the commercial package can change. One answer does not settle the other two.

United Family Healthcare's published patient-rights policy describes participation in care decisions, changing consent, and declining treatment after the consequences have been explained. This is an example of one provider's policy; ask your selected hospital how it documents decisions about examinations.

Explain why you want the item changed

A useful request identifies the concern and supplies enough context for a clinician to respond. For example, you may have a recent report, need clarification about an invasive examination, or see an item that appears inconsistent with the package description. You do not need to choose a replacement yourself.

  • Copy the exact test name from the written package.
  • Explain whether your concern is duplication, discomfort, suitability, timing or cost.
  • For a previous examination, provide its date and report through the agreed private channel.
  • Ask who will review the request and when you will receive an answer.

A previous test does not automatically make a new one unnecessary; that question belongs with the clinical team.

Get the replacement and the price confirmed separately

A discounted bundle is not necessarily priced as a collection of independently refundable items. Before booking, ask whether the provider offers a revised bundle, a different existing package, or individually priced examinations. Do not assume that a more expensive-looking scan can replace several smaller tests at no extra cost.

Keep the approved revision alongside your booking confirmation so staff do not rely on an older package screenshot.

Recheck the order when you arrive

Yana’s Shanghai health check-up video story offers a visitor’s first-person view of her hospital experience. For your visit, confirm the exact examination list, language support and report arrangements in your written plan with the hospital and coordination team.

If the order differs, ask staff to pause and explain it before proceeding. Request an updated examination list and an explanation of any additional charge. If language is a barrier, request communication support before making the decision.

Treat a late change as a new coordination question

Tell us promptly if you change your mind after booking. We need to check whether the appointment, examination order, preparation instructions and price can be revised together. Skipping a station without telling staff can leave uncertainty about whether the test was declined, postponed or missed.

Ask how the final report will record uncompleted items and whether there are outstanding charges. Our cancellation and refund policy explains booking cancellations; it should not be interpreted as an automatic per-test refund promise. Obtain a written answer for the particular item change before assuming money will be returned.

Common questions

Can I replace a blood test with an MRI?

Do not treat them as interchangeable. A clinician needs to assess the proposed examination, and the provider must confirm availability, preparation and the revised price. A package credit cannot be assumed.

Will I receive a refund if I decline a test on the day?

Not automatically. Ask for the applicable package terms and an explanation of any costs already incurred. The clinical consent decision and the billing decision need separate answers.

Should I send my previous results before booking?

Yes, when relevant and through the agreed private channel. Explain which examination you think may be duplicated, so the hospital can review the request before the appointment is arranged.

Plan the details before you book

Send the package name, the exact item you want to change, and your reason. We can ask the hospital about suitability and obtain the proposed scope and price in writing.

An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. Confirm the hospital, date, scope and total in writing before payment.

The hospital-issued Chinese report and complete English translation are delivered within 3–5 working days after all examinations listed in your confirmed check-up package are completed. Consultations, treatment, pathology and other services outside the listed package follow their separately confirmed arrangements.
