What Happens During a Shanghai Health Check?

By MyChinaCheckup coordination team · Updated

Plan a Shanghai check-up morning from the confirmed hospital appointment outward. The site’s typical on-site estimate is about 2–3.5 hours for the agreed check-up, but queues, clinical review and additions can change the duration.

A visit-day checklist you can actually use

StageKeep ready or confirm
Before leaving your hotelConfirmed reception point, preparation instructions and coordinator contact.
At registrationThe identity document requested by the hospital and your appointment confirmation.
During examinationsThe agreed list, any items deferred and the route for clinical questions.
Before leavingCompleted and pending tests, document delivery and the next contact if a report needs explanation.

The usual 2–3.5 hour estimate covers the routine appointment, not hotel transfers or every additional procedure. Ask about the precise plan for your date.

These four services are included in the price of your selected, confirmed package. Extra tests, treatment, medicines, transport and accommodation are not included unless expressly listed in your written plan; separately priced additions require your approval.

VIP personal service means MyChinaCheckup’s individual coordination and accompaniment. It does not promise a hospital VIP ward, priority medical access or a medical outcome.

See a real visit, then confirm your own plan

Yana’s published Shanghai vlog gives a first-person view of one hospital visit. Her sequence of examinations and historical spending are not a template for every visitor. Watch Yana’s Shanghai health check-up story and full video.

Use the timing guide for your calendar and the after-departure report checklist for the handover. If clinical follow-up is advised, ask who can arrange it rather than expecting the coordinator to interpret a result.

The evening before

Check the campus address, reception time and contact person together. Save the entrance instructions offline and follow the hospital’s preparation sheet. Arrange transport using the confirmed address, not just the hospital brand name.

Review what is actually booked. If an MRI or consultation still needs confirmation, do not assume it will automatically fit into the morning. Ask whether the appointment must be changed if your flight or hotel plans change.

Arrival and check-in

Meet the coordinator where agreed and present the registration documents requested by the hospital. Confirm your identity and appointment details with reception. Ask where you can store belongings and who to contact if you become separated from your companion.

Tell staff about any preparation issue or relevant change in your health. That information may affect the examination sequence. A delay should be discussed before rushing through a test to protect a later meeting.

During the examinations

The hospital determines the sequence. Let the English companion help with practical communication within the agreed scope. If staff suggest another test, ask who recommends it, whether it is necessary now, the additional price and whether a separate appointment is required.

A hypothetical morning plan might reserve arrival, registration, examinations and a final handover as four blocks. It is not a timed service promise. Keep onward travel and business commitments flexible until your hospital confirms what is realistic.

Before returning to your hotel

  • Check which planned examinations were completed.
  • List any unfinished test or separate visit.
  • Confirm the report delivery channel and expected dates.
  • Ask who handles missing documents and clinical follow-up.
  • Keep the receipt and appointment reference.

The hospital-issued Chinese report and complete English translation are delivered within 3–5 working days after all examinations listed in your confirmed check-up package are completed. This window extends beyond the visit itself. Do not interpret leaving the hospital as confirmation that every result has been reviewed or that any further assessment is unnecessary.

Common questions

Can I book a fixed meeting immediately after the check-up?

Allow flexibility. The typical on-site duration is an estimate, and extra examinations or hospital queues may extend it.

Will someone accompany me throughout the entire trip?

Confirm the agreed support scope. Check-up accompaniment does not automatically include airport transfers, hotel support or later appointments.

Plan your Shanghai visit

Share your hotel area and the commitments on your proposed check-up day. Ask for a practical Shanghai arrival and handover plan.

An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. Confirm the hospital, campus, date, scope and total in writing before payment.
