How Long Does a Shanghai Health Check Take? Visit and Report Timing
By MyChinaCheckup coordination team · Updated
A routine Shanghai health check usually takes about 2–3.5 hours on site, depending on the agreed tests and hospital workflow. The hospital-issued Chinese report and complete English translation are delivered within 3–5 working days after all examinations listed in your confirmed check-up package are completed. Examinations outside the listed package have their own confirmed appointments and reporting arrangements.
Three separate clocks: appointment, extras and final documents
| Part of the plan | Working estimate or confirmation needed |
|---|---|
| Routine hospital check-up | Usually about 2–3.5 hours on site for the agreed package; workflow can vary. |
| Additional imaging or procedures | Ask for a separate appointment estimate and any preparation or recovery arrangements. |
| Chinese report and English translation | The hospital-issued Chinese report and complete English translation are delivered within 3–5 working days after all examinations listed in your confirmed check-up package are completed. Record dates for services outside the listed package separately. |
Hotel transfers, registration delays and a later clinician appointment are not automatically covered by the check-up estimate. Give the coordinator your departure constraint before paying.
When does a short stay need a different plan?
If you have only one available morning, first confirm what can be completed in that appointment. If you have only two days in Shanghai, do not assume the full report will be ready before departure. Use the two-day itinerary checklist and arrange reports after leaving Shanghai.
For a business trip, keep an appointment buffer separate from meeting and airport-transfer time. The visit-day guide explains the sequence; business-trip planning helps fit it into your wider itinerary.
Put three milestones in your calendar
Record the appointment date, the expected report window and any planned review with a clinician. Ask whether the timing refers to completion of all agreed tests or another starting point. An examination postponed to a later date may change the report schedule.
Working days are not the same as calendar days. Ask the coordinator to confirm actual expected dates around weekends and public holidays. Do not simply add three days to a Friday appointment and assume the translation will be ready on Monday.
Ask about separate results
Check whether laboratory findings, imaging reports and other reports will be released together. The hospital-issued Chinese report and complete English translation are delivered within 3–5 working days after all examinations listed in your confirmed check-up package are completed. MRI, CT, endoscopy or consultations outside the listed package need their own confirmed timetable and contact.
- Which documents are included in the delivery?
- Are English translation and hospital reporting separate stages?
- Are images delivered through a different system?
- What happens if one document is delayed?
Plan your departure without assuming completion
If you leave Shanghai before the report window, agree electronic delivery and a reachable contact channel. Leaving the city is different from completing follow-up: a clinician may recommend further assessment after reviewing a result.
A traveller with a fixed departure should discuss that constraint before booking. Reserve time for an additional appointment only if it has been specifically arranged; do not assume every abnormal finding can be fully investigated during a short visit.
Keep a simple pending-document list
Before leaving the hospital, ask which examinations were completed and whether anything remains outstanding. Keep the hospital reference and coordinator contact available. When documents arrive, compare them against your agreed list rather than assuming one PDF contains everything.
If a file is missing, send the document name and appointment reference privately. Avoid forwarding identity or medical information in public comments. For the overseas handover itself, use our report delivery checklist.
Common questions
Does a one-morning check-up mean same-day final reports?
No. The visit duration and final report window are different. Confirm any same-day result separately.
Will every add-on follow the main report schedule?
Do not assume that. Ask for the timing of each additional examination and its English documentation before confirming it.

Plan your Shanghai visit
Share your Shanghai arrival and departure dates and any deadline for your report. Ask for an appointment plan with realistic document delivery dates.
An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. Confirm the hospital, campus, date, scope and total in writing before payment.
