A day at a China health check-up hospital: what to expect

Updated 13 September 2026 · By MyChinaCheckup · Service planning information

A hospital health check-up in China can fit into a morning when the appointment, campus and package are confirmed in advance. This guide shows what a foreign visitor should prepare, what happens at the hospital and what to confirm before leaving China.

Before you book

Tell the coordinator your passport nationality, purpose, preferred city, travel dates, age range and any support needs. Clarify whether you need voluntary preventive screening or an official work, study or residence examination; those routes may require different facilities, forms and certificates.

Review the exact test list rather than choosing by a package name. Ask whether imaging is included, whether charges vary by body region, what English accompaniment covers and whether the report includes the original Chinese version, full English medical translation and electronic delivery.

The evening before

Follow the hospital’s test-specific instructions. Many blood and abdominal ultrasound appointments require fasting, but water and medication rules vary. Do not change prescribed medicines without clinical advice. Avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise, prepare your passport and keep the appointment address and coordinator contact accessible.

Arrival and registration

Allow time for travel to the correct campus. At registration, the hospital may verify your passport and appointment details. An English-speaking assistant can help confirm the department, meeting point and sequence of tests, but the hospital’s clinicians decide which examinations are medically appropriate.

During the check-up

Most packages combine measurements and physician examinations with blood and urine tests, ultrasound, ECG and selected imaging. The order depends on the campus and package. Allow about 2–3.5 hours; an early start is usually easier for fasting tests. Before accepting an extra item, ask whether it is included or separately charged.

Before you leave

Confirm how the hospital will issue the Chinese report, how the English medical translation will be delivered and whether imaging files are available electronically. Ask who to contact if a result is delayed or an item is missing. A check-up visit and a later clinical follow-up consultation are separate services.

Reports and travel planning

The hospital-issued Chinese report and complete English translation are delivered within 3–5 working days after all examinations listed in your confirmed check-up package are completed. If you leave China earlier, agree the email delivery method before booking. Reserve now. Pay in full before your check-up. Ordinary check-ups can be paid in full after arrival in China, before the first examination begins. Any hospital-required advance payment is disclosed separately in writing and agreed before you accept the plan and proceed with booking. An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. We send written appointment confirmation after the hospital confirms the booking. For amounts already paid, cancel at least 48 hours before the appointment for a full refund. With less notice, only actual non-refundable provider costs already incurred are deducted; the eligible balance is refunded. One complimentary reschedule is available, subject to availability and any disclosed third-party costs.
