Planning a health check-up in China

A useful check-up plan starts with your travel dates, a clearly identified hospital campus and a package you can compare item by item. This guide helps you shortlist options and understand the costs to confirm before booking.

1. Choose a city that fits your visit

Start with the city you will actually visit. MyChinaCheckup coordinates appointments with selected hospitals in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing and Chengdu. Each city directory leads to individual hospitals and their packages.

Compare the campus location with your accommodation and itinerary. A hospital name alone is not enough: confirm the specific campus, available appointment date and arrival instructions. For the two main entry points, see our Shanghai check-up service and Guangzhou check-up service.

2. Compare the listed tests, not just package names

Hospital pages show men's and women's package options, with prices and item lists. Open the full package details and use Compare packages to review up to three options together. Packages from different hospitals may use different names or group tests differently.

Check which examinations and tests are explicitly listed.
Identify grouped items whose individual components need clarification.
Ask which language support and report arrangements are included.
Ask the provider to confirm suitability; a longer list or higher price does not establish that a package fits your needs.

If the listed options do not fit your plans, use personalised planning. Clinical examinations and medical decisions remain with the selected hospital team.

3. Confirm the complete cost in writing

Use the displayed USD package price to shortlist options. Before payment, request an itemised quote for the selected hospital, campus, package and date. For confirmed visits through 31 December 2026, the agreed total includes the hospital check-up, coordination and English accompaniment specified in your written plan. Confirm the consumables and report translation scope; treatment, travel and unlisted tests are separate unless expressly included.

Hospital package: the selected package, its full test list and any separately charged items.
English support: the included one-to-one accompaniment and meeting point.
Reports: Chinese original report and complete English translation: usually expected within 3–5 working days after all agreed check-up examinations have been completed.
Payment: the total, payment currency, applicable currency conversion and payment terms.
Changes: the rules for rescheduling, cancellation and refunds before accepting the booking.
Your trip: budget separately for travel, accommodation and transport unless expressly included in your proposal.

A practical comparison is the total for the same agreed services. Keep the written proposal so that the package and arrangements can be checked against it.

4. Plan the appointment and report delivery separately

We can arrange English-speaking accompaniment throughout the check-up visit. The hospital-issued Chinese report and complete English translation are usually expected within 3–5 working days after all agreed check-up examinations have been completed. Services outside the listed package follow their separately confirmed arrangements.

5. Send enough detail for a useful response

In your first enquiry, include your preferred city, approximate dates, number of visitors, a package link if you have one, and English support needs. If you are undecided, say which choices you need help comparing. No medical records or passport details are needed in the initial form.

For example: “I will visit Shanghai in October. I am comparing two packages and would like English accompaniment. Please confirm availability, the itemised total and report delivery if I leave before the reports are ready.”

These four services are included in the price of your selected, confirmed package. Extra tests, treatment, medicines, transport and accommodation are not included unless expressly listed in your written plan; separately priced additions require your approval.

VIP personal service means MyChinaCheckup’s individual coordination and accompaniment. It does not promise a hospital VIP ward, priority medical access or a medical outcome.

Some results may take longer due to hospital review or the type of examination. We will confirm the expected timing for your plan before booking and keep you informed of any delays. Reports can be sent electronically, so you do not need to remain in China to receive them. Existing accepted quotes and service agreements keep their agreed terms.

Your visit and what is included

Your written plan confirms all listed check-up tests, personalized VIP coordination, dedicated English-speaking accompaniment throughout your check-up, and the hospital-issued Chinese report plus full English translation, the package eligibility and total. For confirmed visits on or before 31 December 2026, the agreed price includes the hospital check-up fee, coordination and English-speaking accompaniment specified in your written plan. There is no additional charge for those included services. Tests outside the agreed package require a disclosed price and your approval before proceeding.

Visit: approximately 2–3.5 hours; an 08:00 start usually finishes by 11:30. The hospital-issued Chinese report and complete English translation are usually expected within 3–5 working days after all agreed check-up examinations have been completed.

Treatment, medicines, travel to and from the hospital, accommodation and tests outside your selected package are not included. Additional tests are paid for separately. Priority arrangements for international visitors are subject to hospital availability; immediate access or no waiting time cannot be guaranteed.

Reserve now. Pay in full before your check-up. Ordinary check-ups can be paid in full after arrival in China, before the first examination begins. Any hospital-required advance payment is disclosed separately in writing and agreed before you accept the plan and proceed with booking. An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. We send written appointment confirmation after the hospital confirms the booking.

For amounts already paid, cancel at least 48 hours before the appointment for a full refund. With less notice, only actual non-refundable provider costs already incurred are deducted; the eligible balance is refunded. Plan the first days of your trip

Allow approximately 2–3.5 hours at the hospital. For an 08:00 appointment, routine examinations are usually completed by 11:30; additional tests or hospital scheduling may extend the visit. Where practical, book within the first three days after arriving in China to leave time for any recommended repeat tests or specialist appointments. Follow-up appointments are subject to availability and are charged separately.

Preparation and clothing

Follow the preparation instructions issued by your hospital for your selected tests. If your hospital specifies fasting from 20:00 the night before, follow that schedule. Water restrictions depend on the examination: do not assume that all fasting tests require you to avoid water. Confirm food, water and medication instructions with the clinical team, especially if you have diabetes or take regular medicines. Do not change medication on your own. Wear loose, comfortable clothing without metal buttons or decorations, and leave jewellery and removable metal accessories at home. If your package includes X-ray, CT or MRI, follow the imaging team’s safety screening and preparation instructions. These scans are not included in every package.
