What Documents Should I Request for Shanghai Check-up Insurance Claims?
By MyChinaCheckup coordination team · Updated
Ask your insurer whether the proposed Shanghai check-up is covered before booking. Then confirm which documents the hospital and coordination provider can supply. Having an invoice or English report does not itself guarantee reimbursement.
Start with your insurer’s requirements
Ask about preventive screening, provider eligibility, pre-authorisation, claim deadlines and any distinction between a routine check-up and tests requested for a medical concern. Give the insurer the proposed service details rather than only a package nickname.
Keep its answer in writing. If the insurer needs a particular form or clinician statement, ask the provider whether it can be supplied before paying. Do not assume that a document can be recreated or reworded after departure.
Match every payment to its documentation
Ask which entity issues the hospital bill, payment receipt and any coordination invoice. Confirm the currency, itemisation and patient details required. If separate providers deliver an addition, ask about their paperwork too.
- Confirmed examination list and appointment date.
- Invoice or bill from the relevant provider.
- Proof of payment.
- Hospital report and any required translation.
- Any claim form your insurer has specifically requested.
Plan the timing of the claim
The final reports may arrive after your Shanghai visit. The hospital-issued Chinese report and complete English translation are delivered within 3–5 working days after all examinations listed in your confirmed check-up package are completed. This does not establish when every insurer document will be available. Ask about missing paperwork, original copies and delivery arrangements separately.
Submit medical details through the insurer’s appropriate private channel. If the insurer asks a clinical question, obtain clarification from the treating provider. The coordinator can assist with document logistics but cannot decide coverage or certify a medical conclusion.
Common questions
Does an English report make a claim eligible?
No. Eligibility depends on the insurance policy and insurer’s decision. Translation may help with documentation but does not establish coverage.
Can payment be billed directly to my insurer?
Ask before booking. Do not assume direct billing is available for the selected hospital or coordinated service.

Plan your Shanghai visit
Tell us what your insurer has requested and which Shanghai package you are considering. Ask which documents can be provided before confirming the visit.
An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. Confirm the hospital, campus, date, scope and total in writing before payment.
