Shanghai Budget Planning: A US$320 Chest-CT Package or an MRI Request?

By MyChinaCheckup coordination team · Published · Updated

A price comparison is useful only after the examination list matches the request. Huadong’s US$320 men’s 01 listing includes chest CT. Ren’ai’s US$150 offer is an MRI addition to a health-check package. These prices describe different services, providers and booking conditions.

Use the US$320 listing accurately

The Huadong men’s 01 package is the lowest-priced Shanghai listing in the current catalogue. Its published items include chest CT, thyroid ultrasound, abdominal and kidney ultrasound, prostate/bladder ultrasound, ECG and named laboratory tests. Read the complete list and eligibility conditions on the package page.

The listing says chest CT; do not assume a particular low-dose protocol, MRI coverage or a clinician’s recommendation from that label. A women’s request needs its own applicable package comparison rather than reusing this men’s price.

Put the actual question before the budget filter

Someone seeking a routine check-up with listed chest imaging and someone bringing a request for a named MRI region are asking for different plans. Describe the requirement and any previous examinations. The provider can then confirm whether a listed package or a separately reviewed addition fits.

Use the Shanghai package shortlist and the seven-hospital directory to compare campus, examination list and price. Avoid treating a longer list as proof of suitability or assuming one imaging method replaces another.

Build a comparable written quote

For a Ren’ai MRI request, compare the whole health-check package, whether one region is already included, and any accepted additional region. The US$150 single-region addition requires a Ren’ai package; contrast costs extra. Ren’ai Select 03 already includes one MRI chosen from head, cervical spine or lumbar spine, so that included scan must not be charged again as an addition.

For either provider, the confirmed package includes expressly listed tests and consumables, personal coordination, English-speaking accompaniment and the Chinese report with full English translation. Unlisted additions need separate agreement. Ask for a named campus and a total in the stated currency, rather than comparing one provider’s complete package with another provider’s add-on price.

Check whether the cheaper plan fits the trip

Compare appointment availability, travel from your hotel and when each report will be issued. A lower package price may not answer a request involving another department, a different hospital or a very short visit. No package listing reserves a morning.

Send the package link, your budget concern, requested examination and available dates. The useful response is an itemised, accepted plan showing what remains undecided. For limited time or recent clinical care, use the scenario links below before fixing travel around the appointment.

  • Published screening option: save the Huadong men’s 01 link and the complete US$320 examination list. Record why this list is being considered, not just its price.
  • Named imaging request: retain the clinician’s requested region or examination wording. If the request is uncertain, seek clinical review before treating CT and MRI as alternatives.
  • Accepted package plus addition: identify the base package, any included scan and the separately accepted addition. Include contrast or other extras only after the provider has explained and quoted them.

The result can be “keep the screening option”, “request an MRI pathway” or “clinical review first”. It does not have to be a purchase decision on the first enquiry. A clinician may advise that the proposed test is unnecessary or that a different assessment is more appropriate.

Compare usable appointments, then the final amounts

For each shortlisted plan, record campus, accepted scope, earliest confirmed appointment, work or travel cutoff, original-report date and translation date. Leave unknown fields visibly pending. A plan with a lower displayed price but an unconfirmed required examination is not yet comparable with an accepted complete proposal.

Ask which current quote each price belongs to and whether the visit date changes the applicable terms. Existing agreed inclusions remain part of that quote; extra tests, treatment and travel must not disappear inside a single unexplained total. Use the Shanghai itemised-quote guide for the final comparison.

Discuss your own plan

Send the package links and the examination you actually need compared. A budget ceiling helps compare accepted options; it does not determine which test is suitable.

The hospital-issued Chinese report and complete English translation are delivered within 3–5 working days after all examinations listed in your confirmed check-up package are completed. Consultations, treatment, pathology and other services outside the listed package follow their separately confirmed arrangements.
