Your questions, explained

Can You Have a Health Check and TCM Consultation on the Same Day in China?

By MyChinaCheckup coordination team · Updated

A health check and a traditional Chinese medicine consultation can sometimes be arranged on the same day. One documented Shenzhen visit followed that schedule. It still requires confirmation of both appointments, their locations and preparation requirements; the past case does not guarantee the same timetable, price or suitability for another visitor.

What our completed Shenzhen case actually shows

In a documented visit by a UK traveller, the health-check appointment was at 08:00 and the TCM consultation at 11:30. The arranged visits were completed that day. Electronic reports were delivered afterwards, following the traveller's departure.

The full Shenzhen case provides evidence of that individual itinerary. It does not establish a standard waiting time, prove a treatment effect or mean every checkup can finish before a late-morning consultation. The practical value is seeing how two distinct appointments were coordinated around one visitor's plans.

Your selected, confirmed package

All listed check-up tests

The examinations and consumables expressly listed for your selected package, with its eligibility conditions.

Personalized VIP coordination

Individual appointment planning, visit coordination and support through report delivery.

Dedicated English-speaking accompaniment throughout your check-up

Hospital-issued Chinese report + full English translation

These four services are included in the price of your selected, confirmed package. Extra tests, treatment, medicines, transport and accommodation are not included unless expressly listed in your written plan; separately priced additions require your approval.

VIP personal service means MyChinaCheckup’s individual coordination and accompaniment. It does not promise a hospital VIP ward, priority medical access or a medical outcome.

Build the day around two confirmed appointments

Ask for a written itinerary that identifies the hospital campus, check-in point and confirmation status for each visit. A request for both services is not the same as having both appointments reserved.

Planning pointQuestion to resolve
First appointmentWhen and where should I check in for the health check?
Second appointmentWhich TCM clinician or clinic is confirmed, and at what time?
MovementAre both visits at the same campus, and is transfer time allowed?
PreparationWhat specific instructions has each clinical team provided?
DelayWho will contact the second clinic if the first visit runs late?

If the second consultation depends on results from the first visit, ask the clinicians whether the necessary results will be ready. An appointment after a checkup does not itself confirm that a completed report will be available.

Separate consultation costs from optional purchases

The historical arrangement was US$280 for the health check, US$20 for the TCM consultation and US$180 for English support, totaling US$480. The traveller separately chose Chinese patent medicines costing RMB299 and acupuncture costing RMB238. Those purchases were outside that total.

These are past case figures, not a current quotation. For new confirmed visits through 31 December 2026, the agreed price includes the hospital checkup, coordination and English accompaniment specified in the plan. Ask whether the TCM consultation is included in your particular total. Any proposed medicine, treatment or other addition should have a disclosed price and your approval. See our current payment and cancellation policy.

Book a consultation without assuming a treatment plan

Say what you want to discuss at the consultation and provide relevant medical history to the clinician through the agreed channel. The booking team can help with language and appointment logistics, but it does not determine which treatment is appropriate or promise a particular benefit.

Before agreeing to an additional service, ask the treating clinician what it is intended to address, what alternatives exist, what risks or interactions need consideration and whether further visits would be needed. Ask the clinic for written instructions you understand. Do not treat a combined itinerary as proof that the two services automatically form an integrated treatment plan.

Plan the handover before your next travel day

Keep the consultation record separate from the health-check report and ask how each will reach you. Confirm what language support is included, who can explain clinical questions and how to contact the hospital after you leave.

Record any outstanding documents and the contact responsible for obtaining them. If a clinician recommends follow-up, ask how that fits your departure date. A same-day visit can be convenient, but the medical information and follow-up arrangements may continue after the appointments are over.

Common questions

Does same-day care mean I receive every report that day?

No. The completed Shenzhen case involved reports delivered later. Ask for the expected timing and delivery method for your own examinations; the appointment timetable and report timetable are separate.

Does booking a TCM consultation commit me to acupuncture or medicines?

Confirm exactly what you are booking. A consultation price should not be assumed to include optional treatment or medicines. Ask the clinician for an explanation and the clinic for a separate price before you agree.

Can you reproduce the same Shenzhen itinerary for me?

We can ask about a comparable arrangement. The hospital must confirm current appointments, clinical suitability and price. Travel dates, the chosen checkup and the consultation schedule may require a different plan.

Plan the details before you book

Send your available date, city and whether you want a TCM consultation as well as a checkup. We can check the two appointment schedules and request one clearly itemized plan.

An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. Confirm the hospital, date, scope and total in writing before payment.
