Chengdu or Shanghai for a Women’s Check-up? Compare the Same Requested Tests

By MyChinaCheckup coordination team · Published

A visitor can travel through either Chengdu or Shanghai and wants to compare a women’s check-up with specific blood tests, breast and pelvic ultrasound, H. pylori testing and a possible gastroscopy. Colonoscopy is not requested for now. The task is to compare the same accepted scope in two cities, rather than compare two unrelated starting prices.

A composite planning example based on anonymised enquiry themes, not a record of a completed visit or a promised outcome. The provider must confirm each arrangement.

Make one request list that both providers receive

Write the exact blood-test names when known, or state the clinical question if the list needs a doctor’s review. Record breast ultrasound and the proposed pelvic ultrasound method separately. Keep the H. pylori test method visible and list gastroscopy as a request requiring its own acceptance. Mark colonoscopy as not requested, rather than leaving an empty space that could be misread.

Use the same list for both proposals. If one provider suggests a different examination or method, record that as a difference to discuss, not an equivalent item by default. Preserve any personal comfort, clinician or chaperone preference as a request to confirm.

A missing item needs an answer. It should not quietly disappear when the proposal is reduced to one total. The existing Chengdu scenario explains preserving the request within one city; this comparison adds a second provider and a common scope.

Keep price differences tied to the actual proposals

For each city, identify the hospital and campus, applicable package, approved additions, unresolved items and quoted currency. The published package includes its listed examinations, VIP personal coordination, English accompaniment during the check-up, and Chinese report with full English translation. Separately requested procedures and support must have an agreed scope.

If one total is lower, check whether it omits an examination, uses a different method or has an unconfirmed addition. Do not conclude that one city is generally cheaper from these two offers. Accommodation, transfers and additional visits belong in the travel budget unless expressly included.

Choose a sequence that the clinical teams accept

Ask whether a consultation or procedure review must happen before an appointment is booked and obtain the hospital’s preparation instructions. Do not copy fasting, medication or procedure instructions from the other city. A separate gastroscopy may create its own visit, recovery and reporting arrangements; these need confirmation for the accepted plan.

Compare usable appointment windows, not merely the number of days in each city. If entry or visa arrangements affect the itinerary, check the relevant official Chinese embassy or consulate for the passport and proposed trip. This article does not assess eligibility or promise that either itinerary is permitted.

Confirm one plan and retire the other draft

Once a city is chosen, ask for one final proposal identifying the exact methods, exclusions, accepted additions, support, total and appointment status. Keep the other offer for comparison but do not use its instructions at the selected hospital.

The hospital-issued Chinese report and complete English translation are delivered within 3–5 working days after all examinations listed in your confirmed check-up package are completed. Agree separate arrangements for any service outside the listed package and identify who will explain the findings. For travel after 31 December 2026, obtain the current written inclusions and quote for that visit; an earlier website example does not extend the published 2026 offer.

Discuss your own plan

Send one examination list and the usable dates in both cities. Ask both proposals to mark included, separately quoted and pending items.
