Two Friends’ Shanghai Health Check-up: From Enquiry to a Saturday Morning Visit

On Saturday, 31 October 2026, two young women visiting from the United States made time during their travels for a health check-up at Shanghai Ren’ai Hospital. Their examinations began at 8:00am and finished at 12:03pm: 4 hours and 3 minutes. MyChinaCheckup coordinated the booking, and Haley provided English-speaking accompaniment at the hospital.

Two beautiful, lively young women, warm smiles and a friend alongside: the waiting-area photograph captures a personal moment in a morning of examinations. The arrangements had begun with two separate enquiries in the early hours of the previous day.

Two enquiries, different priorities

In the early hours of 30 October, Beijing time, the two friends sent separate enquiries about a Shanghai check-up. Both initially had 30 October in mind. One wanted further assessment of concerns after a long journey; the other was looking for a comprehensive check-up.

We discussed their priorities, travel dates and preparation separately. Where a concern needed a doctor’s assessment, we reminded them to seek timely clinical care rather than rely on routine screening alone. A shared visit did not mean that their individual questions or examination plans had to be identical.

Comparing the package lists before deciding

The conversation continued by email and WhatsApp on the morning of 30 October. One friend first received a personalised proposal based on Women’s Advanced 02 and asked how the basic and advanced options differed, and which examinations could be added. The other was already in Shanghai, could first attend on Saturday, and asked for the detailed PDF.

They wanted to know whether an advanced package included every item in the basic package, whether bone-density and dental examinations were included, and whether extra tests had to be decided immediately. We explained that the lists were not identical: the package name alone did not answer those questions.

Both ultimately chose Women’s Advanced 02 as their starting point. Any individual additions were to be discussed in light of their circumstances and the doctor’s assessment. Comparing the actual examination lists is more useful than assuming that “advanced” includes everything in another option. Preliminary quotations and private payment documents are not reproduced here.

Moving the appointment to Saturday

One friend hoped to be seen as soon as possible but had already eaten that morning, and asked about Saturday instead. Saturday also suited the other friend. We coordinated an 8:00am appointment for 31 October.

After receiving the PDFs, they confirmed their plans and the next-day meeting. Hospital registration information was collected privately, the next-stage booking and payment documents were prepared, and English-speaking accompaniment was arranged.

A shared contact group and clear arrival details

On the morning of 30 October, Steven set up a WhatsApp group connecting the two visitors with Haley. One visitor initially had difficulty connecting on WhatsApp, so we continued by email to help establish a convenient contact route. She subsequently joined the group.

We shared the address—Shanghai Ren’ai Hospital health check-up centre, 111 Caoxi Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai—along with entrance directions. Preparation reminders covered fasting for the booked examinations, bringing a passport, wearing comfortable clothing, and telling the clinical staff about medicines or any special circumstances. Each visitor should follow the hospital’s instructions for their own booked tests.

A payment-page problem the evening before

That evening, the visitors reported errors on both payment pages. Retrying did not resolve the issue. We continued checking the problem and explained that, if the online difficulty remained, Haley could help them communicate with the hospital the following morning.

The cause was not confirmed. This account does not attribute it to a particular card, bank or technical problem, or confirm that the original package payments were subsequently completed. Keeping a workable communication channel was part of the coordination. Payment arrangements for another booking must be confirmed individually; see what to check about payments and the parties receiving them.

7:57am: Haley was already waiting

At 7:57am on 31 October, Haley confirmed that she had arrived and described what she was wearing so the visitors could recognise her. At 7:58am, they said they were about three minutes away. The check-up began at 8:00am.

The morning involved more than moving through an examination list: finding the right place, understanding what came next, communicating with hospital staff and taking breaks between steps. Haley helped with English communication and coordination. The hospital’s clinicians carried out the examinations and made medical recommendations.

A doctor’s recommendation, followed by a client’s agreement

During the visit, the doctor recommended additional checks related to blood pressure, blood sugar and blood lipids, together with a neck ultrasound. The client agreed after the recommendation and additional cost were explained. The hospital’s additional charge for these examinations in this case was RMB281.

RMB281 was the charge for these on-site additions, not the total check-up package price. It should not be read as a separate RMB281 surcharge for each of the two visitors. The precise examination items are defined by the hospital’s list; “neck ultrasound” is not being relabelled here as a carotid or thyroid ultrasound. For another visitor, the doctor’s assessment, hospital availability, scope, cost and consent would need to be confirmed separately.

12:03pm: examinations complete, reports still to follow

The examinations finished at 12:03pm, 4 hours and 3 minutes after the 8:00am start. That was the timing of this particular visit, not a promised duration for other appointments.

In their photograph together, the friends’ bright smiles and lively presence bring warmth to an otherwise practical morning. Having a friend alongside was part of their story; the medical findings remain private.

Finishing the hospital visit did not mean that every report was ready. The complete report and English translation usually take 5–10 working days after all relevant examinations have been completed, depending on the hospital’s progress. This story does not confirm report delivery or any medical result. Report delivery and medical-image arrangements are a separate follow-up stage, including when a visitor has already continued their journey.

From the first questions to the hospital visit

The arrangements brought together individual priorities, PDF comparisons, a change of date, registration details, a shared contact group, payment coordination and communication about the doctor’s suggested additions. MyChinaCheckup provided coordination and English-language support; the hospital’s doctors were responsible for clinical decisions, and the client decided after understanding the recommendation and cost.

MyChinaCheckup is operated by Nanjing Xurun Health Consulting Co., Ltd. (南京旭润健康咨询有限公司). We coordinate appointments and support communication; we are not the medical provider.

Questions about this Shanghai visit

Can two friends have their check-ups on the same day?

In this case, both attended on the same Saturday morning. For another booking, each person’s examinations and the hospital’s appointment times need to be checked individually.

Does an advanced package include everything in the basic package?

Not necessarily. Compare the specific examination lists and ask about any item that matters to you. A package name does not establish that every item in another package is included.

Can examinations be added at the hospital?

In this visit, a doctor recommended additional checks related to blood pressure, blood sugar and blood lipids, together with a neck ultrasound, and the client agreed. Other additions depend on clinical assessment, availability, the confirmed cost and the visitor’s consent.

How long did this particular visit take?

On 31 October 2026, examinations ran from 08:00 to 12:03: 4 hours and 3 minutes. This was the actual visit duration, not a guarantee for other bookings or the time needed to deliver the reports.

Was RMB281 the package price?

No. RMB281 was the hospital charge for the on-site additional examinations described in this case. The original check-up packages were separate, and this is not a per-person package price or a general add-on quotation.
