Menopause, Bone Health and Metabolic Review in China

By MyChinaCheckup coordination team · Updated

Plan menopause questions alongside bone, thyroid and metabolic concerns, with exact test scope and clinical review.

Start with the concerns affecting your life

When planning a menopause-related appointment, explain what you want help with and any current treatment. You might want to discuss changes affecting daily life, review an existing prescription or understand which preventive checks remain relevant. Ask who will lead that conversation and how much time is allocated.

NHS guidance explains that menopause and perimenopause are often assessed from age and symptoms, with tests used in particular circumstances. A large hormone panel is not an automatic requirement. The clinical team should decide whether testing helps answer your question.

Ask which bone measurement is actually offered

“Bone density,” DXA, forearm scanning and body-composition analysis should not be treated as identical package items. Ask for the device or method, measurement sites and intended clinical use. If you need comparison with an earlier scan, provide that report before choosing a new appointment.

International Society for Clinical Densitometry positions distinguish hip and spine assessment from forearm measurements used in specified circumstances. Forearm DXA can be a valid measurement; its suitability depends on the clinical purpose. A body-composition result is not automatically the bone-density examination your clinician requested.

See our DXA, DEXA and ultrasound bone-density guide and Guangzhou package-scope explanation. Neither establishes current availability of a particular device at every hospital.

Keep other health questions visible

Do not let the appointment title hide another concern you want assessed. If you have questions about fatigue, sleep, weight, thyroid treatment, blood pressure or previous laboratory results, include them in the brief. Ask the clinician which can be addressed in the same consultation and whether another specialty is appropriate.

Check the exact scope of any proposed thyroid, nutritional or metabolic tests against the current package list. Ask how the result would affect the plan and who will review it. Choosing several overlapping panels can make the quote harder to understand without settling the underlying question.

Prepare records and medication questions

Bring relevant original reports and a current medicine and supplement list. Explain previous operations, existing diagnoses and the follow-up plan you already have. Ask the treating team about preparation and whether anything in that plan affects the timing of an examination.

Keep questions about starting, changing or stopping treatment for the responsible clinician. The coordination team can help request an appointment and written instructions; it does not replace the prescribing team’s decision. If another procedure is planned around the same trip, ask both teams to agree what is appropriate.

Confirm a review, not just a collection of results

Ask the plan to identify the consultation, any tests, optional additions and the results-review arrangement. Verify hospital and campus, dates, current total and which items remain provisional. If bone imaging is still being checked, keep it visibly unconfirmed in the quote.

Decide how reports will reach you after departure and whether a later consultation is needed. Use the reports and images guide to clarify original documents, translations and access before the visit.

Plan a visit around your priorities

Tell us your preferred city, travel dates, main questions and special requirements. We can check the appropriate appointment route, current scope and itemised quote with the hospital.

An enquiry does not reserve an appointment. Confirm the hospital, dates, scope and total in writing before payment.
