A Shanghai Health Check-up Before Departure: From a Short-Notice Booking to a Completed Morning Visit

An international visitor contacted MyChinaCheckup on October 18 and needed a health check-up before leaving Shanghai on October 21. We expedited appointment coordination for October 20 at Ren’ai Hospital, shared the practical details in advance and arranged English-speaking accompaniment. The examinations were completed after 10am, despite a passport problem that morning. Reports would follow separately.

Three days before departure, a plan to put together

The enquiry arrived on October 18. The visitor was already in Shanghai and planned to leave on October 21. There was little room for a long exchange of emails or an appointment pushed into the following week.

We checked the travel deadline and examination needs, then continued the arrangements on WeChat. With the short window in mind, we expedited the coordination with the hospital. The final choice was the Men’s Basic 01 package at Shanghai Ren’ai Hospital, without additional tests. An 8:30am appointment on October 20 left the departure date unchanged.

The examination list was set out in a PDF, preparation reminders were shared, and English-speaking accompaniment was arranged. The booking was in place.

Before the visit, the details were already in place

Before appointment day, Steven sent the preparation reminders, hospital address, meeting time and the English-speaking companion’s contact details. The client had an itemised package list and knew where to go and whom to contact on arrival.

For a traveller visiting a hospital in another country, these practical details matter. The arrangement was more than a date in a calendar: it connected the booking with the next steps at the hospital.

Then the passport could not be found

On the morning of the visit, another issue arose: the visitor could not find the passport. With departure planned for the next day, this was another practical problem in an already short schedule.

The check-up ultimately went ahead. The exact document-handling arrangement is not presented here as a general procedure: visitors should still bring the identification required by their hospital and contact the coordinator promptly if a problem arises.

From the entrance to the examination rooms

The four photographs show the setting for that morning: the Ren’ai health-check centre entrance, the lobby, an imaging room and a department visit. English-speaking accompaniment helped connect the arrangements made beforehand with communication and navigation at the hospital.

The selected package brought together general clinical checks, blood and urine testing, ECG, ultrasound, chest imaging and a Helicobacter pylori breath test. The full examination list is available on the Men’s Basic 01 package page.

Later that morning, after 10am, the examinations were complete. A short-notice enquiry had become a completed hospital visit, one day before the planned departure.

The visit finished; the follow-up continued

The value of this visit was in the details: fitting an appointment around travel dates, sharing clear preparation and arrival information, and providing English-speaking support on site.

Completing the examinations and receiving all reports are separate stages. This package includes the hospital’s Chinese report and a full English translation, normally within 3–5 working days after the examinations are completed. Electronic delivery can be arranged after a visitor continues their journey. Clinical examinations and medical assessment are provided by the hospital; MyChinaCheckup coordinates appointments and communication support.
