Practical check-up guide
Checking a Chinese Hospital’s Identity, Licence and Grade

Sources checked 13 October 2026. This guide explains an administrative verification process. It does not certify any particular hospital or provide a legal opinion.
Before relying on a hospital credential, connect it to the institution and address in your proposed booking. Keep three questions separate: which medical institution is involved, what official record supports the credential, and what has actually been confirmed for your visit. A hospital name in English or a “3A” label leaves important parts of that work unfinished.
Start with the Chinese institution name
Ask the provider for its full registered Chinese name, the campus name and street address, and the department that will register you. Keep the English name beside these details as a reference. If a coordinator is arranging the appointment, record the medical provider separately from the coordinating company.
Use the Chinese name as supplied rather than translating the English brand back into Chinese. Where the quotation, hospital website and credential show different names or addresses, ask the provider to explain the relationship in writing. A branch name, shortened name or shared brand is a question to resolve, not a reason to silently treat two records as identical.
The existing guide to MyChinaCheckup’s coordination role explains booking and payment responsibilities. The worksheet below is for the narrower task of tracing a hospital credential to its source.
Use the official registration enquiry
The National Government Service Platform hosts a medical-institution practice-registration enquiry, labelled 医疗机构执业登记信息查询. The page identifies the National Health Commission as the service provider and displays an institution-name field, a selection control and a verification-code field.
At our check, the form was accessible; we did not submit a provider search or obtain an individual result. Readers must complete the site’s current interactive steps themselves. Opening this link is not evidence that a named hospital has been verified.
For your own check:
- Enter the institution’s supplied Chinese name and complete the fields requested by the official form.
- Record the search wording, lookup date and the actual result. Copy details only when they are displayed; mark anything absent as “not shown.”
- Compare the returned identity with the provider’s licence information and the address in your proposed appointment.
- If details disagree, ask the institution which registration record covers that location and request a source you can check.
An unavailable service, unsuccessful search or unfamiliar name is an unresolved lookup. It is not enough, on its own, to declare that a hospital lacks a licence. Conversely, a matching name alone should not be written up as a completed check of every licence detail.
Check the grade claim separately
For a claim such as 三级甲等, commonly rendered “tertiary Grade A” or “3A,” ask for the exact Chinese wording and the issuing authority’s assessment announcement. Record the named institution, announcement date and any stated conditions. Do not turn a general description of the hospital grading system into evidence of that institution’s present grade. Ask the issuing authority which assessment framework applies to the institution you are checking.
For tertiary-hospital assessment, the NHC reference has changed. The NHC’s notice dated 29 May 2025 issued the 2025 tertiary-hospital assessment standard and expressly repealed the 2022 standard and its implementing rules. The official reproduction on Fujian’s health commission website, published 11 June 2025, preserves that notice. An explanation still presenting the 2022 version as the current national standard needs updating.
The 2025 notice describes institutional functions, including care for severe and complex illness. It does not confirm any particular visitor’s package or appointment. Keep the claimed grade and the practical booking confirmation in different fields. English communication, the selected campus, examinations and availability still need their own answers. For those service questions, use international department versus standard health-check centre.
Blank hospital verification worksheet
Copy this worksheet once for each proposed institution and campus. Leave unanswered fields blank or write “pending.” Keep links and dated replies with the record; do not fill it from memory.

Finish with a precise finding
Write what you actually established: for example, “The institution name matches the registration result checked on [date]; the campus connection remains unanswered.” Avoid an unqualified “verified hospital” stamp when only one part has been checked.
This worksheet records evidence and gaps; it is not a ranking, a guarantee of care quality or a recommendation to select a test. Clinical suitability belongs with the responsible clinical team. No named hospital’s licence, grade or appointment availability has been verified for this article.
