Electrolyte Panels in Guangzhou Check-ups: Check the Named Components
By MyChinaCheckup coordination team · Published
An “electrolyte panel” is not a sufficiently detailed specification for comparing Guangzhou check-up packages. In eight selected listings checked on 13 October 2026, two name six components, two Clifford lists name seven, two give only the panel heading, and two Pazhou lists give a four-item count without identifying the items.
That is a difference in published detail, not a ranking of clinical quality. The comparison below shows what the catalogue establishes and what still needs clarification.
What an electrolyte panel measures
Electrolytes are electrically charged minerals in body fluids. They have roles in fluid and acid-base balance and in nerve and muscle function. An electrolyte panel measures a set of these substances; individual electrolytes can also be tested separately. MedlinePlus: electrolyte panel and electrolytes.
A general medical explanation cannot supply missing components in a local commercial list. “Four items” is a count, and “panel” is a group label. Neither identifies which measurements are included.

| Package listings checked | Published electrolyte wording | What can be recorded |
|---|---|---|
| Sun Yat-sen Memorial Men’s 01 and Women’s 01 | Electrolyte panel (phosphorus, calcium, chloride, sodium, potassium, magnesium) | Six components named in the item title |
| Sun Yat-sen Memorial Men’s 02 and Women’s 03 | Electrolyte panel | Components unspecified |
| Clifford Men’s Select 03 and Women’s Select 03 | Electrolytes / 电解质II, followed by individual rows 69–75 | Seven named measurements; see crosswalk below |
| Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital, Pazhou: Men’s Selected 03 and Women’s Selected 03 | Electrolyte panel (4 items) / 离子4项 | Four-item count only; component identities unknown |
The six-name Sun Yat-sen rows also carry a generic note that individual sub-indicators are not fully specified. The names are visible in the title, so this table records them, while preserving the note as a reason to confirm the final laboratory specification. It does not silently turn that note into either a confirmed exclusion or an entirely unnamed panel.
The component crosswalk
“Unnamed” below means the cited electrolyte entry does not name the measurement. It does not mean the hospital cannot offer it or that the complete package excludes it.

| Measurement | Sun Yat-sen 01 pair | Clifford Select 03 pair | Sun Yat-sen unspecified pair / Pazhou four-item pair |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sodium | Named | Named; ion-selective electrode method stated | Unknown |
| Potassium | Named | Named | Unknown |
| Chloride | Named | Named | Unknown |
| Calcium | Named | Named | Unknown |
| Magnesium | Named | Named | Unknown |
| Phosphorus / phosphate wording | “Phosphorus” | “Inorganic phosphate” / 无机磷测定 | Unknown |
| Bicarbonate | Unnamed in this entry | “Serum bicarbonate (HCO3)” | Unknown |
The phosphorus/phosphate row groups related catalogue terminology for comparison; it does not certify assay or reporting equivalence. The sodium method stated at Clifford applies to the sodium row. It should not be copied across the other six measurements. Likewise, the serum wording on bicarbonate does not establish every other row’s specimen specification.
Why a kidney-panel heading does not fill the gaps
The Pazhou Selected 03 pages separately list a four-item kidney-function panel and a four-item electrolyte panel. Neither names its constituent tests. Combining those headings cannot establish eight distinct measurements or reveal whether any components overlap.
Clifford provides a clearer example of why headings need to be read: its kidney-function-and-glucose group names creatinine, urea, uric acid and fasting glucose, while the electrolyte measurements appear in their own section. That is evidence about these particular catalogues, not a universal definition of a kidney panel.
Source versions and unresolved details
The Clifford men’s PDF and women’s PDF repeat the seven measurements on page 5. The Pazhou men’s PDF and women’s PDF retain the unnamed four-item entry on page 3. All four MyChinaCheckup-branded sheets display 10 October 2026 and agree with the relevant current HTML rows. The four Sun Yat-sen pages checked did not provide linked package PDFs. These PDFs are operator catalogue documents, not hospital-issued specifications. The comparison is not independent confirmation from the laboratories.
If a clinician has requested named electrolytes, ask the provider to match that list item by item, specify unresolved methods or specimens, and identify any separately arranged service. A longer list does not itself establish clinical benefit. This guide supplies no normal ranges, result interpretation, supplementation or dehydration advice.
MyChinaCheckup can coordinate a specification enquiry and appointment; the selected healthcare provider performs the tests and decides clinical suitability. Coordination and translation do not replace a clinician’s interpretation of results. An enquiry does not reserve an appointment.
Continue with Guangzhou package options or, for an already issued report, preserving test names, units and reference ranges. Catalogue and clinical sources checked 13 October 2026; suitability and availability require provider confirmation.
