Arterial-stiffness Assessments in Guangzhou Packages: Ask What Is Measured
By MyChinaCheckup coordination team · Published
Catalogue wording and background sources checked 13 October 2026.
Six Guangzhou package pages reviewed here name an arterial-stiffness assessment. None of those six entries names the device, measurement method, vascular segment or reported index. Four use a device-assessment label, but the word “device” does not identify what the equipment measures or what the resulting report contains.
The useful comparison is therefore the exact published item and its unresolved specification. This guide provides that comparison and a record for matching a provider's answer to a clinician's request. It does not recommend arterial-stiffness screening or rank the packages by cardiovascular benefit.
The six named entries
The table preserves the English and Chinese item names in MyChinaCheckup's catalogue. The source links lead to complete package lists. These are operator-published descriptions, not independent hospital confirmation of a protocol or appointment.

| Provider and package | Exact published item name | What the row leaves unspecified |
|---|---|---|
| Guangzhou Medical University First Affiliated Hospital, Men’s Select 03 | 25. Arterial stiffness assessment; 动脉硬化检查(体检) | Device, method, measurement sites and output names |
| Guangzhou Medical University First Affiliated Hospital, Women’s Select 03 | 24. Arterial stiffness assessment; 动脉硬化检查(体检) | Device, method, measurement sites and output names; the row also contains a source suitability suggestion, which requires individual clinical confirmation |
| Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital, Pazhou, Men’s Advanced 02 | Arterial-stiffness device assessment; 动脉硬化仪检测 | Device identity, method, measurement sites and output names |
| Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital, Pazhou, Men’s Selected 03 | Arterial-stiffness device assessment; 动脉硬化仪检测 | Device identity, method, measurement sites and output names |
| Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital, Pazhou, Women’s Advanced 02 | Arterial-stiffness device assessment; 动脉硬化仪检测 | Device identity, method, measurement sites and output names |
| Guangdong Second Provincial General Hospital, Pazhou, Women’s Selected 03 | Arterial-stiffness device assessment; 动脉硬化仪检测 | Device identity, method, measurement sites and output names |
The matching labels remain similarly unspecified in the linked MyChinaCheckup-branded PDFs. The documents are another presentation of the operator catalogue, not a second, independent hospital source. The women's suitability suggestion above is not adopted here as a screening recommendation.
Neither English label nor its Chinese counterpart establishes pulse-wave velocity (PWV), brachial-ankle PWV (baPWV), cardio-ankle vascular index (CAVI) or ankle-brachial index (ABI) as a local inclusion. Keep those fields unconfirmed unless the provider supplies the actual examination specification.
Why the measurement name matters
Arterial stiffness concerns the mechanical properties of arterial walls. The American Heart Association's 2015 scientific statement on measurement standardization describes multiple measurement approaches and explains that indices from different vascular territories or methods cannot simply be assumed interchangeable. It also discusses the importance of identifying measurement sites and methodology. Those principles explain why an unspecified assessment label is inadequate for matching an earlier report.
This is methodological background from a dated scientific statement, not a recommendation that a traveller undergo the assessment. It does not identify equipment at either Guangzhou provider. A familiar abbreviation on someone else's report is not evidence that a package will issue the same measurement.
What neighbouring rows do, and do not, establish
Reading the full package lists produces a more useful distinction than counting every vessel-related term as the same service:

| Reviewed package group | Separate entries in those same lists | Consequence for the comparison |
|---|---|---|
| Guangzhou Medical University First Affiliated Hospital Men 03 and Women 03 | Each separately names transcranial Doppler, TCD, as well as the arterial-stiffness assessment | Preserve two catalogue items; the TCD wording does not define the stiffness method |
| Pazhou Men 02, Men 03, Women 02 and Women 03 | Each separately names blood pressure within the height/weight/pressure row, and a carotid-and-vertebral-artery colour Doppler examination | Neither neighbouring entry supplies the missing stiffness device or output name |
| Pazhou Men 03 and Women 03 | Each additionally names a carotid haemodynamic assessment, with an express request to confirm its examination and method in writing | This is another unresolved specification; do not merge it with the stiffness row or the named Doppler examination |
Ordinary blood pressure records pressure within arteries; Doppler ultrasound assesses blood movement. These descriptions from MedlinePlus on blood pressure and Doppler ultrasound explain the vocabulary, not the protocol of an unspecified local item. An ultrasound technique can also be used in some stiffness-measurement methods, as the AHA statement describes. The catalogue question is which examination and output are actually proposed, not whether the words must refer to mutually exclusive technologies.
The table shows separate published entries. It cannot establish whether the hospital uses separate devices, combines parts of the visit, or provides particular report sections. Those details still need its confirmation.
Record the answer without filling the gaps yourself
If you already have a clinical request or an earlier result, retain its exact name and ask the receiving team to reconcile it with the catalogue. A concise record can keep a general “vascular check” enquiry from becoming an assumed match.

| Field | Provider-confirmed answer or open question |
|---|---|
| Package link and exact bilingual row | ____ |
| Clinician's requested examination, if any | ____ |
| Exact examination and device or method proposed | ____ |
| Measurement sites or vascular segment | ____ |
| Reported index or measurement names and units | ____ |
| Match to the existing request, or difference requiring clinical review | ____ |
| Who will explain the result and any clinician-directed next step | ____ |
| Date, source of confirmation and remaining question | ____ |
This is a blank specification record, not a score calculator or a request to add tests. Keep unknown answers blank. The clinical team determines suitability and interprets results; a coordinator can relay the terminology and clarify the agreed scope. No risk threshold, “vascular age,” stroke prediction, treatment change or fitness clearance follows from this catalogue comparison.
The Guangzhou planning page provides the wider booking context. An enquiry does not confirm a hospital appointment or an examination method.
Source method: the six linked HTML package tables and their full bilingual PDFs were checked on the date above. Findings concern those documents only, not every Guangzhou service or current hospital equipment. Generic labels remain unresolved even when a package number or price is higher.
