Practical planning for international visitors
What If My China Health Check Finds Something Abnormal?
Updated 26 September 2026 · MyChinaCheckup coordination team
Ask the examining hospital to explain the result and the next step. An abnormal flag is not a diagnosis by itself. The urgency, significance and any further testing should be assessed by a qualified clinician with your medical history.
1. Request a clinical explanation
Ask which result needs attention, whether you need prompt action, and who will discuss it with you. A report translation helps communication; it is not an independent medical interpretation.
2. Agree the next appointment, if advised
The hospital may recommend a repeat test, a specialist consultation or another investigation. Ask why it is needed, how urgent it is, where it will take place and what it will cost. Additional services require separate availability and price confirmation.
3. Check the plan against your departure date
Tell the clinician when you intend to travel. Ask whether follow-up should happen before departure or can be arranged with your regular doctor after returning home. We can help coordinate appointments and documents, but cannot decide whether you are medically fit to travel.
4. Keep the original report and useful records
- The hospital's original report, including units and reference ranges.
- The agreed English translation, clearly identified as a translation.
- Imaging reports and access to the images where available.
- The clinician's follow-up advice, prescriptions and referral information, if issued.
5. Arrange continuity after you return home
Share the relevant records with your usual doctor through an appropriate secure channel. Ask the Chinese hospital how to raise a report query and whether a follow-up consultation is available. Translation, remote consultation and additional tests are different services; confirm their scope and charges individually.
What can MyChinaCheckup do?
We can help communicate with the hospital, coordinate available appointments and organise agreed report delivery. Clinical diagnoses, treatment and medical urgency remain the responsibility of licensed healthcare professionals. This planning guide is not a diagnostic service.
If you feel seriously unwell, seek urgent medical care rather than waiting for a website reply.
Before your visit, ask your coordinator: “Who explains abnormal results, how are urgent findings communicated, and what happens if I have already left China?”
